The Punisher is a Marvels fictional character which previously was published in the Marvel comic books. The Punisher made several guest appearances in multiple shows such as the Spider-Man and it wasn’t until his guest appearance in the Marvels Daredevil that The Punisher got his own spin-off.
Why are people talking about The Punisher?
The Punisher was created as a part of Marvels psychologically challenged wave of antiheroes in the comic books and his dark character was the prime reason for his popularity. It wasn’t until his appearance in the Spider-Mans the Super-Human Squad that The Punishers violent character was brought down a notch. His dark attributes were forged by the murder of his family by a mob for being eye-witnesses to a killing after which he became a one-man army to wage a war against that mob showing no mercy whatsoever.
The reason why viewers are hooked to it is that is emotionally charging. A patriotic soldier became a victim to the civilians he fought for and in vengeance, taken to its extreme, became a most wanted criminal. He becomes the ultimate ‘uncompromising death dealer’. The Punisher gets creative with his victims in sadistic ways yet he doesn’t harm or affect the law in any way. People get what they deserve sometimes even worse but vengeance pays off in the end.
The series is also extremely realistic with no spider bites or chemical experiments gone wrong to make you green, it’s complete physics, dimensions, and and training in the most practical and humanly possible way. The overall videography and direction coupled with special effects and graphics teams etc. did an amazing job to keep the series up to the mark.
Why is Netflix cutting off the highly rated series?
Netflix and the Marvel comics have been in good relations since 2013 when Netflix committed to four ongoing Marvel shows including The Defenders. The cancellations began from the least praised Iron Fist in October 2018 and Luke Cage a week after that whereas Daredevil was cut off in November. Now it was just recently announced that the third season of The Punisher will no longer return to Netflix and the third season of Jessica Jones would also be the last on Netflix.
The reason that shows up for the cancellations and cutting of ties between Marvel and Netflix seems to be that the Marvels parent company Disney, is launching its own streaming service in late 2019, known as the ‘Disney+’ as a competition to Netflix. This streaming service is already featuring Marvels focal stars and the Disney+ chairman announced that the honorable shows may be revived and brought back.
Also as part of its plan, Disney has been removing its high-rank content from Netflix as well, in order to make space into its own streaming line. Meanwhile, Netflix has been trying to bag high content including The Chronicles of Narnia and Roald Dahl works aiming towards a larger goal.
